The cube-like shape of this house was developed from an existing unfinished building near the water. The minimalist tdesign was driven by the owner’s desire to create a contrast to her active life in the city. Running a company that makes natural yarns in wonderful colors, her work week is packed with business and design decisions. In contrast, this retreat offers large quiet spaces, clean details, natural materials, and subdued colors for a more contemplative mood. Clutter is eliminated with closed storage for food and belongings and hidden radiant heat. A few balls of yarn and a laptop computer are all she needs to stay in touch with the outside world.
